residents appear to have lower lengths of stay, total costs, and
consultation rates than patients receiving routine private care."
(CHEST 2001; 119:580-589). All inpatient teaching services at AMH have been demonstrating this claim for over three decades while
leading the nation in measures of quality and safety.
Abington Memorial Hospital has a long track record of being one of
the busiest hospitals in the region. The Department of Medicine
Hospitalists Group came from an additional need for patient care and
education while maintaining it's industry-leading level of quality
medical care. All H-Team services have primary objectives that
serve these basic functions.
Inpatient Services
The H-Team provides 24-hour in-house coverage overseen by board-certified
physicians dedicated to the care of patients requiring acute inpatient
hospitalization. The team consists of four full-time Attending
physicians, medical residents, interns, and students with support from a
full compliment of multidisciplinary services including the acclaimed
subspecialty
services at AMH, physical/occupational therapists, hospice services, wound care, and social services.

Internal Medicine Consulting Services
This service is managed primarily by attending physicians and offers
continuity of care from the outpatient setting for patients requiring
acute inpatient hospitalization.
